DAY 82 - WWII OIL TUNNELS AND RFDS MUSEUM

Some Bush Stone-Curlews came to visit us in the morning. We always hear them screaming at night!

We went to the underground WWII oil storage tunnels and looked at the rows of information along the walls.

We saw the Streeter again.

We went to the RFDS museum on the wharf, where there was a VR experience about the Darwin bombing which the kids enjoyed.

We saw a Diamond scale mullet fish by the wharf.

Stef and Dave have oysters and beer again!

We finished the day with a lovely concert by Adam Scriven at the Mindil Beach Sunset Market.

DAY 81 - GOING ON THE DARWIN FERRIS WHEEL

 

We went to the wharf to see the sunset and the blue moon from the ferris wheel.

The Streeter. Stef recognised the owner of the ship as someone who she used to work with on the Tiwi islands so she talked to him and he invited us for a cruise.

DAY 79 TO DAY 80 - DARWIN AVIATION MUSEUM AND BUSHFIRE

We went to the Darwin Aviation Museum, which Toby loved.

There was a massive bushfire next to our campground which was really scary! The kids hid in the ensuite.

DAY 78 - MINDIL BEACH SUNSET MARKET

 

We went to the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory. This is a 5.1 metre male saltwater crocodile which they named Sweetheart.

We went to look at the sea.

Then we went to the Mindil Beach Sunset Market and listened to a man sing.

We watched the sunset on the beach. They have this tradition that when the sun sets everyone starts clapping!

Toby bought a crocodile tooth necklace.

A lady at the markets wrote our names on rice. She gave them to us for free but you needed money to get it put in a necklace.

DAY 76 TO DAY 77 - LAGOON AND DARWIN FESTIVAL

Stef ran through the mangroves in the morning.

We went to Leanyer Waterpark where we played and swam in the pool. We also went down the big, fun slides!

Stef and the kids went to the Caryota Book Exchange in Darwin and got books and complimentary hot chocolate!

Then we all went to the Darwin Waterfront Lagoon.
